Chinsunboard –  High Quality Standard Magnesium Oxide Board with amazing fire resistant properties and easy installation

Chinsun Magnesium Oxide Board is a kind of new green and fireproof building material that is used in place of traditional gypsum drywall as partition wall and ceiling covering material and sheathing. It could be used anywhere Gypsum boards or dry walls could be used, such as wall board, backer board, underlayment, siding etc. What if the material that made up your home's walls could keep your family safer and healthier than traditional building materials? Magnesium Oxide Board (MgO board) is an innovative building product, new to the marketplace, that many builders and architects believe can do exactly that. However for every one person who loves this innovative building product, there is another vehemently opposed to it. Let's take a closer look at the good and bad sides of magnesium board. MgO boards are comprised of Magnesium oxide, which has been introduced into a cement mixture and cast into thin panels. These panels are then specially cured to make them useable in residential building projects. The result is a strong alternative sheathing material with antimicrobial properties that can be used over wood and metal framed houses. It is used for walls, ceilings, subfloors, and other building applications, where gypsum, plywood, or cement might traditionally be found.

MgO board is a certified fire resistant building material. In fact, numerous tests have been done comparing the fire-resistance of magnesium board to plywood and traditional drywall, with MgO coming out the victor. Magnesium Oxide (or Magnesia) is a material which is being increasingly used within construction. Magnesia is a versatile mineral which can be used as part of a cement mixture and cast into thin cement panels and cured. This is then used for a range of residential and commercial building applications. Variations in MgO board possess properties such as fire resistance, mold and mildew control and acoustic properties. Uses include: Firewalls, Partitions, Sheathing, Tile backer, Shaft liners, Ceilings, Soffits, Fascia MgO board is used in place of traditional gypsum drywall. It is also used in various other construction applications such as fascias, soffit, wall sheathing and also as a tile backing material. It's not paperfaced and is available in a range of sizes to suit the application. MgO board is available in various finishes including smooth face, rough, utility as well as a range of different densities.

Why choose Chinsun magnesium oxide board?

1.Fireproof capability:the fireproof capability can be reached 2-3 hours, and it’s no combustion at 800ºC and no flame out at 1200ºC.

2.Sound and heat insulation:the Sound insulation will be more than 45db (depend on the structure), and it has a great performance on heat insulation

3.Shockproof:Fiberglass mesh inside the boards is designed to absorb shocks. It results in a shockproof and bend-proof board to increase durability.

4.Health concerns:MgO boards are Asbestos free, non toxicity and formaldehyde free.

5.Other advantagesLighter, more flexible and stable than tradition sheeting systems;Time and material saving-dramatically reducitng construction costs;Environmentally friendly.

No special tools are required. The products can be used with normal nails, fastened by normal or self-drilling screws and cut by an electric power saw with a diamond blade.

Chinsun magnesium oxide board can be fixed to both timber (minimum size 1.5 x 3 inches) or steel frames (at least 0.55 mm thickness). The board must be supported at the edge at intermediate positions with centers not exceeding 600 mm. Screws must be located more than 12 mm from edges and 50 mm from board corners.

Fasteners can be both nails and screws. It can be nailed directly to timber supports with round wire nails. For metal screws, the size and length of the screw depends on the thickness of the board and the gauge of framing. Pre-drilling the board is a must unless self-embedding, self-drilling head screws.

Since magnesium oxide board is subject to slight dimensional changes, a butt joint can be used in dry partitioning areas or where an exposed joint appearance is acceptable. For better water protection, either flexible acrylic or polyurethane based sealant can be used to seal gaps of 3-5mm.

Flush Joint for ChinsunBoard, Recessed Edge

ChinsunBoard flush joint

First coat: Fill the recessed area to the face of the sheet by using a jointing compound then embed the fiberglass mesh tape into the joint.

Second coat: Apply second coat at 200 mm width. Allow it to dry thoroughly before applying a finishing coat.

Finishing coat: Apply third coat at 300 mm width. Allow it to dry completely before sanding.

Recommended Frame Specification – For Internal Partition

Galvanized steel frame No.24 (0.55 BMT) is recommended to be used as stud for internal partition using ChinsunBoard. Stud shall be fixed at the spacing of 600 x 2.400 mm. Details of ideal stud size are shown as follows.
